Nope. Your eyes aren’t lying to you. Jackie Chan makes the greatest Chun Li.

High School Student Gives a Lesson to His Teacher in Duncanville, TX

So I heard this on the radio this morning and couldn’t help but feel like this kid is saying exactly what needs to be said about a lot of teachers in our school systems.

What this video doesn’t tell you is that he is an 18 year old SOPHOMORE. I don’t say this to belittle him but to praise him. Apparently, a few years before, he dropped out of high school and pursued working jobs available to people without a high school level education. Years later, after realizing he really wanted and need his education, he humbled himself to the level of a sophomore as an 18 year old man, because he wanted to learn and succeed.

This is not a needlessly rebellious teen. He has definitely made his own share of bad decisions, as we all have, but he is taking time away from working full time, and more than likely pay bills, to better himself.

And what does he get for his efforts? An apathetic educator who openly states to a class full of, already unconvinced and unmotivated , students that she doesn’t really care about them and that this is just her pay check. Who would WANT to give her the time of day? And in this stage of life, it is hard to look past your own petty immature self to measure the true weight and value of a real education.

I applaude this man. And though he could have spoken with more decorum, he is understandably angry.

We need this message in our schools, ” We are here to learn. Don’t give me busy work to make it through your day. Teach me. Engage me. Challenge me. Nurture me. We are the leaders of tomorrow.”

    [End Rant]

It makes me furious that teaching is not considered a legitimate profession in this country. And look what that mindset has gotten us: “teachers” who view being an educator as a back-up plan, a job with a summer vacation, glorified babysitting, easy.

Perhaps if we treated teaching as a profession — y’know, something you need a degree in your subject area as well as either a minor, a second baccalaureate, or a masters degree in education/pedagogy —perhaps, perhaps we might actually have teachers who are capable of engaging our future leaders.

Did you know that in Japan being a teacher is one of the most revered professions? A teacher in Japan is paid like a doctor in the U.S. — and they’re treated with that level of respect. Because Japan understands how fundamentally important a strong education system is.

It frustrates me to no end that basically anyone can become a certified teacher in America. Educating isn’t passing out packets or teaching to the latest standardized test. And it makes me want to throw up that that’s what it’s become.

Why does this have so few notes???

It upsets me that so many people think of teaching as an easy job, because you only work until 3:00 every day and you gets the whole summer off LOL ISN’T THAT JUST GREAT! Except it’s not easy. Because if you’re actually doing your job? You spend a damn long time outside of the classroom preparing lessons and discovering new things to teach and new ways to teach it, not to mention grading. (And don’t give me that LOLOL IF TEACHERS DON’T WANT TO GRADE THEY SHOULDN’T ASSIGN HOMEWORK LOL bullshit, because that’s how we figure out what kids know and what they can do, and the point of school is to help kids learn more.) And you don’t get the whole summer off, because teacher workshops are a thing.

So teachers who do the bare minimum to make it look like they’re doing their job when they really aren’t? They are a pestilence in the system. They are the reason why so many kids hate school, because they turn school into a waste of time. This student is exactly right. And the teacher asks him to stop wasting her time? Please.

This man is the civil rebellion we need to see in high schools and State Colleges across the country.

Hey everyone, so I decided to share with you my workouts that I’m doing for my FemShep cosplay, as well as a playlist that I have for my workouts. They’re really simple, and I have more to add to this soon. This is what I’m doing to achieve a lean, fit and healthy/strong body for my FemShep cosplay this summer!

    What I usually do:

Crunches during every loading screen of Skyrim/ME/AC3, or commercials if I’m watching TV, including a 30-day crunch challenge I’m doing with my boyfriend.

I do a 30 second plank every night before bed. It REALLY works your core!
I have a bad back so if I have a sore back that day, I do extra squats or crunches instead.

I do about 20 squats every day.

I also use my elliptical machine as often as I can.

On top of this, I’m also eating a healthier diet, cutting out junk foods as much as I can but also treating myself once in a while. I love eating LOTS of fruits and veggies, and I’m also eating whole grain (NOT whole wheat!) breads, and lean meats.

    ——-

If you guys would like me to make more things like this, such as healthy foods, more workouts/exercises, or other cosplay things, just let me know! :) Hope you don’t mind my puns haha.

Reblogging solely for the playlist. This thing is jammin as HELL.
